Topic: Answer the following question with an essay of four to five typed, double-spaced pages approximately 1000 to 1500 words

Order Description
The concept of “Modern” in architectural history is usually thought of as originating in mid-nineteenth century Europe and continuing through the early decades of the twentieth century, though its exact definition is elusive. Most people would agree though that actual works everyone would include as good examples of Modernist architecture likely adhere to most or all of the following principles: (1) advocating notions of functionality; (2) a rejection of nineteenth-century historicism; (3) a rejection of decorative ornament; and (4) a willingness to use new materials, especially steel, glass and concrete. Discuss the development of Modernism in architecture from the middle of the nineteenth century through the advent of the Bauhaus, paying particular attention to the four principles listed above. Your essay should refer to specific works of architecture that demonstrate these principles whenever possible.
